Background on Clover

I rescued Clover over a month ago from her owner who basically stopped showing her love and attention after Easter. She was bought as a Easter gift to her little kids, was mainly around small kids in their inhouse day care too. They got tired of her after Easter..

Side note: I saw the owner is searching for a small dog after I was told they don't have time for Clover and wasn't held for over a month... Really ticked me off but glad to take Clover away.

She is about three months to four soon. She is a mini lop. They got her from a petshop. The owner was very uneducated about bunnies as you can tell so far. I took her in, taken care of her, and love her with all my heart. She has warmed up to my parents and I.

Anyways, I am having a problem. She has been acting up lately so, I did take her to the vet. They are willing to spray her right away but they want almost $600 and they don't do monthly payments.

However, SPCA will do it for $130 which I can do. Issue here, since she is a mini lop, I would have to wait four more months. I can't wait that long, she has been spraying all over my room, will only spray on me, no one else. Sprays all over the house. She won't use her litter like she used to, she has become very moody, and feels like she doesn't even like me sometimes.. I've done everything right to try to control and help these issues til she gets sprayed.

What else can I do? That VCA was my last hope, I can't find find anywhere else that even sees bunnies. I am in Sacramento, CA.

Any recommendations would be highly appreciated. Thank you.

Mini-lops are average size rabbits (average rabbit being 5-7 lbs). The "mini" in the name is only by comparison to other lop breeds which happen to be quite large. Mini-lops can weigh as much as about 6.5 lbs.

Dwarf breeds are considerably smaller. ;)

Hope Larry's suggestion works out!

BTW, if she's spraying urine everywhere, it is quite possible that "she" is a "he." (in which case a neuter typically costs less than a spay)

Thank you for your advice A vet thought she might be a boy too but the vet checked and it's a girl.. She sprays like a sprinkler...

She is right now about 3 lbs! Larry's suggestion vet told me they do the spray/neutering by weight. She got an okay from them but they still need a check up then can operate. They're willing to do it asap for $202, which is WAY better..

Fingers crossed

Hey, was thinking about the age of your rabbit. If they got it as an Easter gift (April 1 this year), and assuming bun was 8 weeks of age (usual youngest age for selling), that would make your rabbit 6 months of age now.

If she is 6 months of age, she is likely full grown or almost full grown. Sounds like she may be a mix, then, since 3 lbs would be awfully small for a mini-lop.

Can you post a photo? There are some members here on RO that are good at guessing breed.

The owner told me she was adopted at 3 or 8 weeks on Easter. The owner said she was a mini lop but she doesn't really know much. The vet didn't tell me her age or breed, she just went along with what I heard.. I highly appreciate the help. Thank you.

The eye ring is characteristic of dwarf hotot, but they have up ears. So I'm guessing he's mixed with a lop breed (holland lop and mini-lop are the smaller lops). But that's me guessing. Some of the experienced breeders on here may have better ideas.

At 3 weeks a rabbit should still be nursing. Hopefully they got her at 8 weeks. I believe California does not allow the sale of rabbits under 8 weeks of age.

Then it was 8 weeks, the owner gave me all the wrong information :( Thank you so much..
