This is the first time having a bunny. When I feed my little one pellets and hay do I put them in the same bowl or how do I do it?

Hi Samantha, and welcome to the forum.

Feeding schedule depends on the age of your rabbit. Young rabbits (under 6 months of age) can have more pellets than adult rabbits (over 6 months). Since young ones are growing they can have more pellets. Those pellets should be plain (no colorful bits or seeds). You can put the pellets in their own bowl.

Hay, on the other hand, is something they should get in abundance! The amount of hay they should eat daily should be about the same as their body size. Younger rabbits can have a mix of alfalfa and timothy hay. But rabbits over 6 months should not get alfalfa, just timothy (or other grass hay).

Once your rabbit is over 12 weeks of age, he can start getting introduced to greens (very slowly). The amount shown on the photo below is what you will be working up to, so don't start out with that. The link on the photo has more detailed info on feeding including pellet brand suggestions, lists of safe greens, and different ways to offer hay.

You can put the pellets in a bowl and give the hay separately. Since this is your first bunny here's some links to pages with info on caring for your bunny :)

A rabbit-savvy vet could help you identify what is causing that. Just do an internet search for "rabbit vet near me" to find one near you, or try this vet directory: https://rabbit.org/vet-listings/
Here on the forum we can give you our best guess, but you would need to do a post in the "Health and Wellness" section and include pictures of your bunny's issue.
