Our babies are about a week and 2 days old now. They are pretty active and have started nibbling on hay. My question is, how do I know if momma is still producing milk? The babies seem healthy but their tummies aren't as big and round like they were before they started growing fur; is this normal? Also, I know I've mentioned before that mommy's belly feel a little stiff, is this the milk?

I'm just a worrier lol and I'm so new to this that I'm not sure what's normal. Thank you! I've also read that they will begin eating cecotropes at some point in time and will start drinking water? Do they just know they need to do this? When they are old enough will we have to teach them how to use the water bottle?

I would have a bowl of water in their cage...makes it much easier. They will just naturally start going after mom's pellets and drinking water by 3 weeks, sometimes a little sooner/later.
