Hiccups was born with a desease that even our savvy vet doesn't have any idea what could have caused it. we noticed that she's beating hard on her upper body. Honestly, I could feel her beating hard everywhere. we took her to the vet the moment I noticed her hiccup - ing. But because she's just 1 week old then. Vet doesn't do much. just told us that she may not live long. She's now 2 months and 5 days old. earlier this morning, I witnessed her having seizures. and breathing so hard. I thought she'll be leaving us already. I gave her metacam, to ease her pain without prescription. She was soo tired after her seizures, she just layed flat for 15 minutes, me by her side massaging her. Even at her weakest moment, I felt her purring. My hearts in soo much pain. then she miraculously stand up slowly. Grooming herself, still weak. I gave her pellets and water, she ate and drinks it all.

Honestly, I'm looking for a cure that doesn't involve an operation. I'm afraid that it might do more harm than good. I also don't want the idea of letting her go as she'll go when that time comes anyway. but I can feel her fighting. Now that she's a little bit older. I'm considering another visit to the vet. But because our vet is more of a canine savvy vet with knowledge about exotic pets. I have to know what are the diagnosis we should do in case our vet have no idea. (don't get me wrong, he's our 1 and only vet that did all neutering and spaying to my bunnies. but he's also not that perfect ). I would love to attach a video but would take time to do so.

Do you mean 'breathing hard'? Are there any other symptoms your rabbit is having?

With the seizures, it's possible your bunny can be put on a medication that might help that.

Here's a more close up video of her twitching. looking at her, it looks like her twitchings were coming from upper body, but if you touch her body, twitching comes from everywhere. from her neck down to the tail.

That's unusual, it could be a neurological issue, but I really don't know. Surely there must be something that would help keep things under control. Very cute bunny too :)

That does look like a neurological condition. Though don't know if it is congenital or an acquired illness. If your bun is having seizures, it could be a seizure disorder of some sort. The parasite e. cuniculi can cause neurological conditions to develop. A bacterial infection could also be a possible cause for neurological symptoms, though I would think it less likely since this has been going on for several months. My best guess would be a genetic condition leading to seizures or e. cuniculi.

If you wanted to check for e. cuniculi, if you have a lab that does a blood titer for encephalitozoon cuniculi, then you could have that done to check for antibodies indicating your rabbit has once had it or has a current infection. Or you can just go ahead without having the blood titer done and treat for e. cuniculi with the antiparasitic fenbendazole, as well as meloxicam to reduce inflammation caused by the spores.

If your bun is experiencing seizures now, then a seizure medication may prove helpful.

It might also be worthwhile to have a full blood panel done to check for kidney and liver function, as well as any signs of elevated white blood cells possibly indicating infection.

One possibility that might be available, is for your vet to consult with a rabbit specialist. This would involve a consultation charge, but it would give you the best chance at getting a correct diagnosis and what the correct treatment might be. There are some very good rabbit specialists in the United Kingdom. Here are their websites if you are interested in trying this. You will need to have your vet contact them.
