This is Hans, I've taken him in from a friend who could no longer keep him. He was purchased from a pet store and they were told he was was a Lion head, but his ears make me think otherwise. Hans is 2 years old and weighs about 3 pounds (He doesn't stay still long enough to get an exact weight on the scale.) I would love to hear some ideas on what his breed might be. Thank you!

I really don't know what the wide crown thing means just because the rabbit world is new to me, but I was thinking he was a Lion Lop. Thanks for confirming!

If the ear lopping is a new occurrence, you'll want to make sure it isn't due to an ear problem, like infection or ear mites.

The wide crown is in reference to how broad the head is, lop-eared rabbits have wider crowns which produces the lopping and reduces ear control. A mixed breed rabbit like yours which may have a narrow crown (normal ears) from one parent and lop ears from the other parent can result in an in-between crown in where one or both ears may or may not be lopped or partially lopped and the rabbit may still have control over them. Partly lopped ears that stick out to the sides are known as helicopter ears (and are very cute). :)
