Hi. I'm really worried about my rabbit so I made an account so I can ask a question. So my Holland Lop, Hazel has been scratching constantly near her neck, scalp, and face, so I checked those areas. I happened to find a few small white bugs crawling on her, but I'm uncertain to what it is, or how to prevent it. I know its not a flea because they're black. And I can't get a prescription because I don't have a vet. Can someone please tell me a type of pest control I can use or give me suggestions? I don't want anything thay can kill, burn her skin since she's 8 weeks old and I just got her.

It could be a type of mite? I use kitten/puppy Revolution flea treatment if I suspect my buns might have picked something up. I think Revolution is good for a pretty broad range of fleas as well as mites. But since she's so young Revolution might be too strong for her, see if you can consult a rabbit vet on that.

It sounds like mites to me. I've used Revolution on 8 week old rabbits but you have to weight your rabbit and get the dosage just right. Might be best to get a vet check and have the vet do the correct dosage for you. If you decide to go to the vet it would be good to shop around, call around, until you find a vet that specialises in rabbits. (I don't trust regular vets for cats and dogs with my rabbits anymore and wouldn't even trust them to treat for mites).
If you don't have money to go to the vet, then this video tells you how to figure out the dose for Revolution. You need a syringe to measure correctly. [ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YyqNwCCRSq8[/ame]
You are also supposed to treat again two weeks later incase any eggs hatch out.

Best to get a vet and ask for a revolution perscription. Proper dosage is 18mg/kg. Do not dose what it says on the boxes of drugs. Rabbits have such a different system as compared to dogs and cats. Medications will work different.

Ivermectin can be another option but its not as safe as there are some colours of rabbits it can be lethal too

Unfortunately, you need a vet to get Revolution. For an 8 week old you could just get the kitten dosage. You don't need a vet to get ivermectin but I haven't used it on one that young. You'd need to consult with a vet for that and the dosage.
