It used to be easier to do sub qs. Now Wasabi's skin feels thicker I am having a hard time to insert a needle. It's also more difficult to make a tent out of his skin. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Could the vet not admit him for a day and give him IV fluids and keep him under observation? This would probably be pricy but it sounds like he is ailing.

They do not have appointments today and for emergency I would have to take him to a vet who is not bunny savvy. His prognosis was grave to begin with. I managed to give him fluids today it was just harder than usual.

Im curious as to why the vet isnt letting you syringe water into him. Sub q flyids that often will definitely damage the skin and potentially the underlying tissue.

I was told not to do that. Our first vet prescribed 100cc sub qs to my 1.3 kilos bunny. The second one told not to give more than 50 cc sub q in addition to the Critical Care. I was told so many wrong things by vets. That my bunny's droopy face was just a cosmetic problem or he had a brain tumor and needed to have a CT scan, that he had a tooth abscess and probably needed an oral surgery, that he didn't need his motility drugs. I have a feeling my bunny would have better survival chances if I didn't take him to a vet.

Sorry for rumbling. I am a wreck right now.

I'm so sorry for your loss. It sounds like you did everything you could. Unfortunately, rabbits aren't easy to cure and sometimes, they die despite our best efforts.

I am very sorry indeed. You did all you could for him and you did the best you could. I wish I knew how to have helped you. You had good advice from JBun and others but the vet frightens me. Any vet who does not know rabbit health scares me.
It was mentioned that learning as much as you can about rabbit's health and their habits is the best thing. I agree. Most vets are dog and cat specialists and rabbits are foreign to them.
I could go on and on about this but now is not the time. Again I am very sorry and know how you feel. I lost a rabbit a few weeks back.
