Bugs!

Both my buns live outside with a run attached to their hutch plus a fenced in area they can play in as well, however as the weather gets warmer black flies and mosquitoes are making their return and I've noticed markes and bug bites all in my bunnies ears which probably sucks!

So I was wondering if anyone had any bunny safe bug spray or lotion I could buy or a recipe that I could use and make some with? Also if horse bug spray would be safe to use with them and in their hutch?

Others may have more experience with this. Ours are outside, though not on the ground, and we don't have a problem with bug bites. I'd be hesitant to use bug spray on anything they can eat or lick, and they do groom their ears. We use fly strips with some success...maybe you could try bug zappers?

It might be safer to buy some mosquito netting in bulk and put it up.
