Hi,

First post and looking for some advice

Have 2 6 month old boys (Artemis and Zevran) who have had some rough patches but ultimately were livng together happily. they were bonded as babies and fine until about 15 weeks were they had to be separated (started fighting DAYS before their snip was booked) gave them a few weeks to settle and started the bonding process before xmas. they've been living together happily for a few weeks until friday morning (8/01) when they started the first of several fights- didn't matter were they where, they were not getting on- had no chance but to separate them. they've been miserable apart but fighting when together. they're living side by side so they can still interact.

The thing is that Artemis has just been given antibiotics by the vet and the fighting started about 12 hours after his first dose. has anyone else had something like this happen? i know they're sensitive to smell. Any advice on when to reintroduce them, restarting the bonding process etc?

Thanks!

When you went to the vet, did you take both bunnies or just Artemis? Taking both helps with scent issues because then both bunnies end up smelling funny :p It could be the antibiotics too (from the smell). There could be a very slight behavioural change from the antibiotics that you're not noticing but Zevran is (not neccesarily a bad one, just something small that has changed their dynamic). Perhaps keep them side-by-side for now and about a week after you've finished the course of antibiotics try reintroducing them.

I hope they can work things out.

Always take both to the vets. they're living side by side quite happily and will share treats through the bars. Just can't trust them unsupervised. was thinking of letting Artemis finish the antibiotics and going from there.
