I'm not exactly sure if this is where this topic should go, but we bought timothy hay for our bunnies from a local farm that sells it specifically for rabbits. It was a great deal, and the rabbits seem to like it well enough.
Today, however, I opened the box to see 1. a moth fly out and 2. a little tiny speck of an insect scurrying about the box. And by tiny, I mean smaller than the point of a needle. It's pale brown, almost the same color of a cardboard box. Upon examination, there are dozens of these little things in the box alone; can't really tell about in the hay, due to their size.
Is this something I should be concerned about? Is this normal? Can I still use the hay, or just throw it out? We've been having a fly problem, so I don't know if this is at all related. For now, it has been removed from the area with any of the rabbits.
