no longer URGENT: Ivermectin sensitivity/overdose treatment info needed

Does that vet know about rabbits? Is it a regular vet or an exotics vet? Feeding just apple sauce seems like a bad idea, it's so much sugar it will alter Busters gut flora. No pooping is an EMERGENCY!!! I'd take Buster to an exotics vet, they know more about rabbits. If you are going to force feed anything, it should be Critical Care, which has lots of fiber to get Busters gut moving again. I made mine watery, like a ketchup consistency, to get more water into Harvey when we had our stasis scare. But hurry!!!

If your rabbit has gas and a bloated stomach you should not be syringe feeding anything as this increases the pressure(and pain) in the stomach. True bloat is an emergency. You need to take your rabbit to an experienced rabbit vet immediately, who will likely xray to see what is going on. Any experienced rabbit vet would not be telling you to syringe feed apple sauce to any rabbit, let alone a rabbit with bloat.

Stomach decompression may be necessary, and if there is a complete blockage surgery may be needed. In the least your rabbit needs to be on pain meds much stronger than meloxicam, usually buprenorphine, and IV fluids may be needed at this point as well. This may or may not be related to the previous administration of ivermectin. In any case bloat, whatever the cause, requires immediate intervention by an experienced rabbit vet.

Thank you for the feedback. I was able to get Buster to an exotics vet today. The 4th vet we have seen in the past 4 days! She was recommended by the 3rd vet we saw. She gave him fluids, stronger pain meds, regulan to stimulate motility and oxbow critical care. He finally pooped!!!! He still isn't eating or drinking on his own but is now accepting it without much of a fuss and seems to be enjoying having his tummy rubbed and getting to lounge with the humans and dog on the big bed.

My rabbit has sever fur mites but we’ve been using ivermectin paste and it has been working. But I am afraid. I don’t want my bunny to overdose. I gave 4 doses a “pea sized” and I don’t know if that is too much.
