I had two outdoor rabbits.Mr Bunny and Violet Quite socialised and very happy living on the patio right close to the house, however, before christmas Mr Bunny died, and i have been very concerned about Violet and decided to bring her in to live in our conservatory as the weather has turned and I am thinking she needs company. However, she seems suddenly very, very timid. Whereas before she would tolerate a stroke and would allow herself to be picked up, she veers away when I feed her, she hides in her bed, and she is clearly miserable. My children were visiting over christmas and I worry that they may have inadvertently grabbed at her and picked her up. I am so worried about her, as I really want to rebuild the trust we had , but I think she may never let me near her again. my husband is a bit of an old stickler and will not allow her to be a house bun (although this is what I would like more than anything) so I need to find a way of socialising her all over again, before we bond her with a new partner and she goes back to live on the patio. Please , if anyone has any ideas as to how to do this, let me know. i am so worried she will never trust me again.Thank you.

She likely just needs time and patience. She's dealing with the loss of her bondmate, new housing, the commotion of Christmas...

Just spend some time sitting near her in the conservatory. Let her approach you (if and when she's ready). Just by you sitting nearby (on computer or book reading, etc), it gives her the chance to feel more at ease with you.

She'll adjust.

Many thanks for the good advice, now things area little quieter I can take time to lie down with her, and have been offering the occasional raisin which seems to be acceptable. She still looks at me with a wary eye, though , but I guess as you say, it will take time. Am already eying up husbands ( for her! ...) but may wait a while till the better weather comes. Thanks again
