We are hoping to adopt in the early fall from our local rescue/shelter. Most likely a dwarf. I would like to build a c&c cage.

The plan is to have a cage and then either attach a pen or allow the bunny to roam the whole room for hopefully 4-5 hours a day. It will be our spare bedroom.

Would a 2x4 cage be better than a 3x3? Trying to decide....Will be at least 2 grids high with a covered loft in one area. Floor I'll be plywood covered in vinyl tiles with fleece or rugs for comfort.

Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

A 2 x 4 grids would be the better way to go for no other reason than arm reach. If you make a cage that is 3 grids deep (front to back), you won't be able to reach to the back for cleaning.

Attached is a sample of a 2 x 4 grid cage I had awhile back. Remember that dwarf rabbits may be smaller but they tend to be high in energy. That means they need just as much space as larger breeds.
