Hi guys!
My husband and I recently got ourselves a 2.5 month old lion lop and she's beyond cute! We noticed that she tends to scratch her ears and body so we brought her to the vet. She tested negative for mites and any sort of bacterial infection so the conclusion was that our rabbit just has dry skin, like me with eczema.

We started applying some oil that the vet prescribed. Perhaps because of how oil naturally parts fur, we just noticed that she's had a bald spot behind the ear.

Is this something we should be worried about? Could the dry skin be causing this bald spot? Do we need to bring her back to the vet again (after just 3 days)?

If anyone has any advice or experience in this area, I'd be very grateful.

If she tested negative for mites and infection, I wouldn't be too worried. The bald patch is probably just a combination of how the oil parts her fur and repeated scratching to the area.

Just to be sure, do you have a photo?

Yup I do. I have attached the photo to this post - hope it works!

That looks to me just like clumped fur- which will then expose the skin. It's probably just due to the oils clumping the fur and doing their job! Good luck getting it all to clear up! She's a lucky bun to have you guys!

i agree it just looks like clumpy fur. i had to say though.. i've got a bunny myself who LITERALLY has visible rabbit eczema. she's a rescue i fostered, she was left outside of a pet shop with 2 of her sisters and they all had the same problem, though different stages almost? one barely had it at all, one had it moderately and my bun had it severely. dry skin all over the body, so dry and flaky that every time you stroked her or she hopped around, skin flakes would fall off of her.. plus her fur was constantly moulting. very strange. she had a ton of vet tests done and no specialist vets could diagnose what she had, it didn't get better.. until i moved her inside. her skin pretty much cleared completely.. but being inside actually seemed to make her significantly unhappy until i moved her back outside. once she moved back outside her skin got badly flaky again but she's so much happier. hope you found this interesting lol

My Garnet has the same thing, she's had it since I got her from the shelter and the worker said it was from the stress of being in a small cage. It's been a year now and no hair's grown back, but she hasn't lost any. Maybe it's just clumpy fur?

Yeast infection was ruled out?

Is there anyway you can use raw coconut oil driped on alittle of the pellet food 3 times a week it works wonders for skin problems and is harmelss to the rabbit you can also give it by mouth 2 drops 3 times a week via dropper and also so due black oil sunflower seeds a few / NOT a handful, mixed in with the pellets each day will help with dry skin.
