Young Adoptable Bunnies (West End)

Rabbit fans have been rescuing some of the University of Victoria bunnies before they kill them all at the end of August (or sooner). :(

The rabbits are being spayed and neutered and treated for any medical conditions, and they will be adoptable soon just for the cost of the surgeries (a discounted rescue rate of $50 or $60). We are also open to foster homes for those who can't make a long term committment or would like to know in advance whether adopting a bunny is a good idea for you.

One or two will be at our yard sale on Saturday, August 14th, 12 PM to 6 PM, at Cardero and Nelson (you can't miss it) as well as other adoptable rabbits.

If you're interested in adopting or fostering, or you want to know more about rabbits as pets, or you just want to pet a bunny, drop on by and meet the little guys!

Additional Note: The majority of the UVic rabbits do have places to go and budgets for spays and neuters but politics and red tape are getting in the way of their rescue. The Ministry of the Environment is classifying them as wildlife and are requiring restrictive permits. Most importantly, they have been extremely slow in processing and approving the applications, leaving the rabbits vulnerable to the University's cruel 'cull'. An temporary injunction has been in place (via advocate Roslyn Cassells) because of the slowness of the Ministry's processing time, but now UVic is seeking to overturn that injunction on Monday so they can start quickly killing all the bunnies before school starts up again.

PLEASE SHOW UP FOR THE COURT PROCEEDINGS MONDAY (Aug. 16) IN VANCOUVER at 9:45 AM at the BC SUPREME COURT at 800 SMITHE STREET!! The physical presence of supporters could make ALL THE DIFFERENCE!!
