Everytime I have taken my hubby to a rabbit show,he says that he loves the cinnamon color...it's kind of an orangybrown. I think secretly he want a bunny that is his own. ;)

What is that color called, and what breeds are in that color? My hubby would have to have a laid back bunny, he hates being scratchedand stuff. He likes Bubba, but I have never seen a FG in thatcolor.

What other big breeds come in that color??

Thanks all!

Dawn

Perhaps you are thinking of the "tortoise"color. It's very common in Holland Lops, but many otherbreeds also have the tortoise variety including the Cinnamon breed.

The photo below is of a tortoise Holland Lop. Is that the color you are referring to?

No, that is not quite the color. I wishI could describe it better...I see the color in my head...mayberust???

The rabbits he pointed toward were not lop either. Mayberexes? I'm not sure, I didn't go and touch them, being showrabbits and all. How big do Rexes get? I know I sawthat color in a mini rex...only problem, Adam would be better off witha bigger rabbit, he feels uncomfortable holding Emma, and we don't haveany Rex breeders close to us.

But your rabbits are beautiful, Pam. Thanks for answering. Do you know anything about Rexes??

Dawn

Rexes can be kind of moody and jumpy. But it depends on the bunny, of course.

I'll put in my perpetual plug for Pals, though, for handle-ability! Plus being a beautiful bright russet orange.

Get a boy and have him FIXED! Those stinkers can do some nasty long-distance spraying!:p

hehehehe

Mini Rex weigh up to about 4 1/2 pounds. Standard Rex weigh up to 10 1/2 pounds.

The Rex are certainly not as common as the MiniRex -- but I have seen some very beautiful ones. They come inmost of the same varieties that the Mini Rex do.

Red, the color is red. Boy do I feel stupid...thanks so much Pam.

I like the Pals too, but we don't have any breeders in ourarea! How much does that stink! Down here, we justdon't have many different breeds, mostly Cals, mini and holland lops, and mini rex.

Pam are there any other breeds that come in the red or castor colors?

Pam thanks again for taking time to answer.

Dawn

There are many breeds that come in thosebeautiful colors! (keep in mind that the color Castor is the same asCopper, Chestnut, Gray (English Spot, Dutch). A combinationof the recessive non-extension gene and the recessive wideband geneturn the Chestnut into Red.

Others besides theRex: Belgian Hares; American Fuzzy Lops,Chestnut -- no Red; Angoras (except Giants) Copper, Chestnut,Red. The Satin Angoras are beautiful in Red; BritanniaPetite, Chestnut; Flemish Giant, Sandy; Lops, Chestnut is common, Redis rare (they do have orange and fawn), Jersey Wooly, Chestnut;Netherland Dwarf, Chestnut; New Zealand Red; Palomino, Golden; Satin,Copper & Red.

The Flemish Giant, French Lop, Satin or New Zealand are good choices for your husband if he likes a large rabbit.
