    Cecotrophes

I've read in several rabbit care books that babies need alfalfa hay till they are about 6 months old for proper growth and development. I'm a relative novice at keeping pet rabbits though and I'd welcome people with more expertise weighing in on this. Meanwhile, I hope your bun is ok.

Question about what my vet told me

$10/bunny? Perhaps you are getting a volume discount. My vet charges $20 for each of my 2 bunnies. But doing their nails makes me nervous so I pay.

    Anyone have experience with pneumonia?

Piper, (3.5 y/o. Dutch just about 3kg) stopped eating and had no solid output for 2 days. I started him on critical care and took him to the vet who diagnosed pneumonia via an X-ray. They gave him subQ fluids and started a course of oral baytril. (22.7 mg twice a day for 14 days) Bowel sounds...

    Cramp, gas, seizure or what?

Thanks. I'm trying to catch video when it occurs. If I get something useful I'll share it here as well as with the vet. I'm hopeful that we can figure out how to prevent, or at least minimize these episodes.

    Cramp, gas, seizure or what?

Thanks for the reply. Piper has been with me since he was 3 months old. He's just over 3 years old now. His intake, output and activity levels have all been normal. His weight is stable at about 7.5 lbs. There's been no odd symptoms like balance problems or head tilt. Vet has done fecal exams...

    Handheld Vacuum Recommendations

I use a whisk broom and dustpan from the dollar store. It works well and gets into the smaller spaces. A plastic 1 inch putty knife/scraper gets the harder to clean stuff. Baby wipes are quite useful too.

Moving 3,000 miles with rabbit, extremely nervous

Consider giving benebac. Routinely each day through the trip and for a couple of days afterwards.

    Cramp, gas, seizure or what?

Piper is a 3 yr old Dutch. He has episodes, for lack of a better term, about once a month on average. The episodes come on without warning signs. During an episode, Piper bends his body to the left and holds with tense muscles for 5-10 seconds. Then he does it to the right. He draws up his limbs...

Dutchess refusing to eat hay, not pooping enough again

Although I prefer to feed oxbow, I have gotten good quality hay at a decent price from Farmer Dave's pet supply and from Rabbit Hole Hay. Both are online orders and offer both small or large quantities. My local farm and home store carries oxbow products, so I'm lucky in that. When my bunnies...

    Hello

Obviously I'm new here. I'm Clyde. I have two house rabbits. Muffin is a one year old Rex, and Piper is a 3 year old Dutch. I've had them both since they were 3 months old. I'll leave it there for the introduction. Feel free to ask me questions if I left out something important.
