I usually buy whatever is on sale by the bale. A few times it's been alfalfa, however it's been orchard hay in the past. Unfortunately it's kinda scarce in our area right now and expensive.

Our vet has always said keep them on the diet they were on with their mothers. His mother was mostly fed fresh foods so so even though he's eating pellets we were trying to keep him on his original diet.
